Swanage Railway

Photographs taken on Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd May 2005
The weekend was a 'Happy Birthday' event for the Swanage Railway - first opened on May 20th 1885. Then, the first train was hauled by a Beattie 2-4-0 Well Tank - to commemorate the occasion the National Railway Museum's Beattie 30587 (built 1874, rebuilt 1921) visited Swanage and ran throughout the weekend, hauling a two car special from Swanage to Norden.
