National and International Weather Agencies

Global forecasting

Weather reporting and forecasting is a global activity. Every country needs accurate short term and longer range forecasts. Data is collected and exchanged between the national and international groups to build up a comprehensive picture of the global weather pattern. Weather crosses national boundaries and what affects one will affect another. Large scale effects (El Niño) affect many countries and people - prior warning helps to alleviate disaster and prepare for rain or drought.

Many of these sites provide a wide range of local weather, forecast, warnings and other materials. Most sites will provide links to satellite imagery of their own area. These sites are excellent starting points for comparative weather studies.
