Station reports - current conditions

UK station reports chart

Weather stations, both manual and automatic, make observations and report their data to central bodies such as the UK. Met. Office. The information that is collected is plotted on to a map, providing a visual indication of current weather conditions. To simplify the display, information is coded using a standard set of symbols to represent wind direction and speed, cloud cover, current weather conditions etc. For more detailed descriptions, a standardised 2 digit code is shown, chosen from a listing of 100 descriptions of current weather.
